Collection: Hardscape

Hardscape is the structural foundation of an aquascape, the rock and wood that define a tank's layout before plants and livestock go in. Our collection includes aquarium-safe driftwood and stone for natural-style setups.

  • Driftwood: Adds natural structure and anchor points for plants like Anubias, ferns, moss, and Bucephalandra. Wood also releases tannins that lightly tint the water and benefit shrimp and blackwater species. Most driftwood needs soaking or pre-soaking to waterlog and sink.
  • Stone/rock: Provides aquascaping structure, caves, and visual depth. Some rocks affect water chemistry (raising hardness and pH), which can be desirable for snails and Sulawesi shrimp or something to account for in soft-water Caridina tanks.
  • Shrimp benefit: Hardscape creates grazing surfaces for biofilm and hiding spots that reduce stress, especially valuable in shrimp and breeding tanks.

Hardscape lets you build a natural, functional layout tailored to your livestock. Note that hardscape items are not covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee, as they are not live products.

Every order ships across the US and can be combined with other items. See our shipping information for current options and rates. Local pickup available in Duluth, Minnesota.
