Collection: Freshwater Fish
Freshwater fish add movement, color, and life to a planted or community aquarium. Our fish collection features peaceful, aquarium-suited species selected for health and quality, packed and shipped with the same care as our shrimp and inverts.
- Difficulty: Varies by species (see each product page for specific care level)
- Water parameters: Most community freshwater fish do well around pH 6.5 to 7.5, temperature 74 to 80°F, GH 4 to 12 (standard hobby range — confirm the requirements for each species, as needs differ)
- Tank size: Depends on species and adult size; always match the tank to the fish's full-grown size and activity level
- Schooling vs. solitary: Many aquarium fish are shoaling species that need a group of 6 or more, while others are best kept singly or in pairs. Each product page notes the right approach.
Compatibility matters: Fish vary widely in temperament and in what they can be safely housed with. Some are fully peaceful and shrimp-safe; others will eat shrimp, fin-nip, or need species-only setups. Always check the compatibility notes on the individual product before adding a fish to an existing tank, especially a shrimp tank, since most fish will eat shrimplets even if they leave adult shrimp alone.
