Collection: Caridina Shrimp

Caridina are the prized, higher-grade cousins of Neocaridina, known for crisp white patterning and deep saturated color. Our collection includes Crystal Red (CRS) and Crystal Black (CBS), Black and Red King Kong, Blue Bolt and Extreme Blue Bolt, Black and Red Fancy Tiger, plus the hardworking Amano shrimp and its color forms (Red, Snow, and Lemon Yellow Amano).

  • Difficulty: Intermediate (Amano shrimp are beginner-friendly; Crystal and Bee-line Caridina are intermediate)
  • Water parameters: pH 5.8 to 6.8, temperature 68 to 76°F, GH 4 to 6, KH 0 to 1, TDS 100 to 150 ppm (general guidance; match conditions to your livestock)
  • Tank size: 5 gallon minimum, 10+ gallons recommended for stability
  • Key difference from Neocaridina: Caridina need soft, acidic water, usually achieved with an active (buffering) substrate and remineralized RO/DI water. They are more sensitive to parameter swings, so a stable, cycled tank matters even more.

Caridina are peaceful, plant-safe, and excellent in dedicated shrimp tanks. Amano shrimp are the exception in care, they tolerate a wide range of conditions and are famous as one of the best algae-eaters in the hobby, but unlike most Caridina they will not breed in freshwater. We offer Caridina in pack sizes of 1, 3, 5, 10, and 20 depending on the variety, so you can buy a single specimen or stock a full colony.

Every order is backed by our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee, includes free bonus animals on qualifying orders to buffer shipping losses, and ships across the US with seasonal heat pack and ice pack protection. See our shipping information for current options and rates. Local pickup available in Duluth, Minnesota.
