• Lighting: Moderate to high; strong light is needed to keep growth low and dense
• CO2: Strongly recommended, and required for most carpets to fill in successfully
• Placement: Foreground; plant in substrate
• Growth: Spreads horizontally via runners

Carpet plants create the most dramatic aquascaping effect but are the least beginner-friendly. Most need higher light and CO2 to grow tight to the substrate rather than stretching upward. They're shrimp-safe, and shrimp love foraging across a carpet. Best suited to keepers ready for a higher-tech setup.
