Green Jade Goldenback Shrimp combine green body colour with a lighter, golden stripe along the back. The contrast is especially attractive as the shrimp moves across a dark branch or pauses on a leaf, giving an already unusual colour variety another point of interest.
Like other Neocaridina, they do best in a mature freshwater aquarium with stable conditions and plenty of biofilm. A quiet planted setup gives the shrimp room to graze and shelter, while keeping this line on its own helps you follow its colour and pattern over generations.

How to Set It UpGetting Started
1Start with an established tank. Cycle the aquarium fully and confirm zero ammonia and nitrite. Mature moss, plants and hardscape provide grazing surfaces and shelter while the colony settles in.
2Keep water chemistry steady. Acclimate gradually to the aquarium and avoid sudden changes in temperature or mineral content. Consistent conditions matter more than chasing a particular number within the care range.
3Protect small shrimp. Use a sponge filter or cover the intake with a suitable prefilter. Fine plants and crevices offer places to hide during moulting and give young shrimp a better chance of finding food safely.
4Feed to the colony’s appetite. Offer small portions of a balanced shrimp food alongside natural grazing. Remove leftovers and make modest, regular water changes with water matched to the aquarium.
Bonus Tip
Include a dark piece of wood near the viewing glass. It offers a useful grazing surface and makes the golden stripe easier to follow as the shrimp moves.
