The Chocolate Marble Sword (Echinodorus sp. 'Chocolate Marble') is a cultivated sword plant that earns its name from the deep chocolate-brown and bronze tones that define its new growth. As leaves mature they develop into a rich marbled pattern of green, brown, and amber — warmer and more earthy in character than the pink and white tones of other marble sword variants, and particularly effective against dark substrates and natural driftwood layouts. Like all Echinodorus it grows from a central root crown, roots deeply into the substrate, and develops over time into a full, commanding specimen that anchors the layout with genuine weight and presence. Fully safe with shrimp, Caridina, and fry, and a natural pairing with botanicals and earthy hardscape setups.
The Chocolate Marble Sword pairs particularly well with the Pink Marble Sword in the same layout — the warm brown and bronze tones of the chocolate variant complement the softer pink and white of the pink variant, creating a cohesive two-plant color story that works across a wide range of aquascape styles.
