What to Expect with Color

Culls are Neocaridina shrimp that do not meet the visual standards of a specific color line. They may come in a wide mix of shades including translucent tones wild patterns lightly muted versions of blue yellow orange or red and any combination of these. No two shrimp are guaranteed to look alike and coloration may shift over successive molts as their genetics and environment interact.

Because these shrimp result from selective line breeding they can still display surprising beauty and produce an interesting variety of offspring. They provide an affordable and exciting way to build a thriving shrimp colony especially for hobbyists who enjoy discovering unique looks from one generation to the next.

General Care Behavior and Tank Conditions

These shrimp exhibit the dependable hardiness Neocaridina are known for. A fully cycled aquarium with abundant biofilm plants and botanicals encourages active grazing and confident behavior. They feed naturally on algae detritus and biofilm but also benefit from shrimp specific diets and spirulina based foods to support healthy molting.

Peaceful tankmates gentle filtration and regular maintenance help ensure strong survival and colony growth. Their variety of appearances can create a lively naturalistic look in planted aquascapes.

Bonus Tip

If you enjoy selective breeding choose your favorite colors from each generation. Over time you can gradually develop your own unique morph line without the cost of starting from an established strain.

Complete your shrimp order with some vibrant plants! They provide essential hiding spots and enhance the natural look of your tank, creating a healthier, more enriching environment for your shrimp. Add plants to your order for a thriving, beautiful setup!

Great!

All culls and my 2 Mexican dwarf crayfish were alive and are still thriving. Will purchase more in future.

Beautiful shrimp. A lot of color variety. Arrived very much alive and happy. 24 hours later, they're alert, active, and they've been going to town on my tank surfaces. Packaging was great, very secure. 100% worth it. I'm definitely going to buy from them again.

I recently ordered a 5 pack of culls

I recently ordered a 5 pack of culls. 7 were shipped. One tiny one arrived DOA. The others seems to be doing very well in my 5 gallon tank with other neocaridinas and a couple of dwarf corydoras. My favorite is one of the brown ones. Maybe it was a Black Rose variant cull? It's color is deep dark brown like dark chocolate. Lovely!

One loss out of 40

One loss out of 40, all shrimp were active and in great condition. After floating for 30 minutes and drip acclimating for 3 hours, they scattered into my 60 gallon tank and made themselves at home. Even the culls are gorgeous.

Everything arrived alive and looking healthy

Everything arrived alive and looking healthy. The bag and box had a small hole in it but that was because of UPS. The heat pack was still warm. They also arrived when they said.
